San Diego River Clean Up

San Diego River Clean Up

At Joshua’s Pest Control, we care deeply about the community we serve.

At least once a month, we try to have everyone on the Joshua’s team take a few hours out of the work day and give back to the community. It’s important to everyone in the company, that we work to improve San Diego in as many ways as possible.

A few days before Earth Day, we volunteered with the San Diego River Park Foundation and helped clean up some areas around the San Diego River. There are several areas in the woods behind the river that are abandoned homeless encampments. We helped clean those areas up, careful not to take anything from any active encampments. There was a lot of trash, clothing, tires, posters, rugs, and so much more that had just been abandoned in the area behind the river. We definitely got dirty and sweaty but in the end, it was worth it. We filled an entire dumpster with trash from all the abandoned garbage that had been down there. When we saw our before and after pictures, we couldn’t believe how much work we had done. We’re proud to look at the picture and realize that we did a little something to help make the community a better place.

The San Diego River Park Foundation is a great organization to get involved with if you’re looking for ways to give back to the community. Once a week, they pick a location and they clean it up. If you’re interested in volunteering for the San Diego River Foundation like we did, check out their website, sandiegoriver.org, and sign up today.

We’re always looking for ways to help out, so if you know of an organization that’s looking for volunteers, let us know!
